KWSF History

Since the inception of lab-based science education at Kaiser over 15 years ago, Kaiser Woodland science has been a tremendous success as measured by district-leading student test scores; academic readiness at the junior high, high school, and university levels; and student enthusiasm for all things science.

The History of Kaiser Woodland Science and The Foundation

Between 2000 and 2010, the science program at Kaiser elementary was privately funded. During this time, Kaiser’s excellent science program developed, producing tremendous results as demonstrated in increased test scores. The program became a model for elementary science instruction.

Unfortunately, in 2010 a large part of that funding was no longer available to the Kaiser science program. Out of this setback, the Kaiser Woodland Schools Foundation emerged. The Kaiser-Woodland community of parents, teachers, and local businesses created the Foundation to ensure the excellent science instruction at Kaiser was not lost. “Save Our Science” was born!

Since then, the science program and the Foundation’s reach has evolved and grown.

Kaiser’s excellent history of high caliber science instruction continues. With the core science instruction in place, the Foundation is excited to support supplementary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic programming for all TK-6th grade students at both schools. Kaiser’s project-based engineering curriculum kicked-off in 2015. The iterative, creative program – unique to the Kaiser campus – continues to expand and grow every year. KWSF introduced an Intro to Stem curriculum at Woodland in 2016. Woodland is the only elementary school tin the district to offer this type of programming to TK-2nd grades.

Community support is critical to maintain these excellent offerings for our Kaiser and Woodland students. Consider supporting the Foundation and Kaiser-Woodland science by making a donation and contacting your employer regarding matching gift programs or science-based grants. Learn more.
